This hotel is a gem in the heart of a historical district. Its location is perfect, right in the center of Kurashiki where everything is within walking distance. The renovated rooms are spacious and have all the necessary facilities. The attention to detail is evident in the sparkly fittings and fast hot water in the bathrooms. The hotel also offers a good breakfast, with a modern Japanese style that is sure to satisfy.
No complaints, everything was just fine.

Ivy Square is located in a building of somewhat more modern heritage - originally a textiles factory established in the early 1900s - but is sited right on the edge of the extremely well preserved historical streetscape of central Kurashiki that dates Bach centuries - a great place for just walking around and absorbing the history. The hotel rooms were very comfortable, and larger than average for Japanese hotels, yet quite reasonably priced. It is probably a 1,000 Yen taxi ride from the station, but if one is travelling light it is a very pleasant 20 minute walk through the more modern commercial arcades first and then the historical quarter of the town, alongside the photogenic willow lined canals.

This quaint hotel is located in the center of an historic district within walking distance of shops, restaurants, art museum, and canal boat rides. In the summer there is a delightful beer garden with live entertainment and buffet, but you need reservations. The staff were very helpful in giving directions and making good suggestions about places to go.
The beds were adequate but could have been more comfortable. Our rooms did not have a tub/shower so we had to use the public baths which were nice but offered no privacy. As foreigners, perhaps an option to use the baths a half hour before opening or after closing might be a solution.

The hotel is located in a historic area that was perfect for our city break. We didn't have to travel far from the train station to find great shops and restaurants on a quaint street. The hotel itself was clean and quiet, with helpful staff available. We especially enjoyed the public bath, which was relaxing and immersed us in the local culture.
The bed was quite firm, as we have found with all our hotel beds in Japan. it was difficult to find the entrance to the hotel, which caused us some confusion.

Beautiful building in quiet location. The communal baths were a truly Japanese experience.

The atmosphere in this hotel is very pleasant probably due to the design, which is clasical countrystyle, and the fact that all the guestrooms are in one floor wings divided by ponds and all buildings are covered by ivy.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the historic district, making it easy to explore the Binkan area. the hotel's central courtyard is a lovely spot to relax, surrounded by walls of ivy vines. The rooms are clean and functional, with all necessary amenities included for a comfortable stay.
The hotel's restaurant menu is only available in Japanese, making it difficult for non-Japanese speakers to fully enjoy the dining experience.

The staff at the hotel was kind and helpful. My room was very clean, and I liked I could prepare tea in my room too.
The time frame for using the public bath is too small. Only from 6am to 9am in the morning you can use then, if you wake up at 9:30 then you can´t clean yourself (no shower in my type of room).

The value for money at Ivy Square was excellent and the room was bright, spacious and well-organized. The location was perfect, with easy walking access to the historical sights, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
The morning meal could have been improved with more vegetarian options.

The breakfast buffet was abundant, but not very good. The hotel had a convenient location near the historic district and within walking distance of many attractions. the hotel rooms were modern and clean.
The rooms were very outdated and the decor felt old and stale.
